NATIONAL BOYCOTT— Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is Calling On Workers to To Just Say “NO” When It Comes Time To Return To Work

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made an appearance on Seat at the Table with Anand Giridharadas. In the short clip posted to the Vice’s YouTube Channel, she called for workers to boycott when America reopens.

Cortez thinks this is the perfect opportunity to make employers pay up. She doesn’t want to let this crisis go to waste.

“When we talk about this idea of ‘reopening society’ you know, only in America- does the President, when the President tweets about liberation, does he mean go back to work.

When we have this discussion about going back or reopening, I think a lot people should just say “no”- we’re not going back to that.

“We’re not going back to working 70 hour weeks just so that we can put food on the table and not even feel any sort of semblance of security in our lives.”

Recently, Cortez found herself in hot water for cheering in a since deleted tweet the downfall of oil companies stock. She said,

“You absolutely love to see it.

“This is along with record low interest rates means it’s the right time for a worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure to save our planet. *Cough*”

Representative Kelly Armstrong ripped Cortez saying, via Fox News,

“Openly celebrating the economic destruction of families and communities because it fits a political narrative is unacceptable and unbecoming of a member of Congress,”

said Rep. Kelly Armstrong, R-N.D. “People’s jobs are evaporating. Lives are being ruined in real-time. North Dakota companies that have taken decades to build have been destroyed in hours. Any public official that loves to see this does not deserve to hold office.”
